This 0.5 CEU training explores how Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) can be effectively adapted and implemented within adult service settings. While ABA is commonly associated with early intervention and school-based supports, its principles are equally applicable to adults with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and independent living goals. Participants will examine how to design meaningful, socially valid interventions that support autonomy, vocational success, daily living skills, and quality of life. The training will also address ethical considerations, person-centered planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams in adult services.
Objectives
After this course, you'll be able to:
- Identify at least three key differences between ABA service delivery in pediatric versus adult service settings, including considerations for consent, autonomy, and social validity.
- Describe how core ABA principles (e.g., reinforcement, prompting, task analysis) can be adapted to support adult outcomes such as employment, independent living, and community integration.
- Apply a person-centered framework to develop one behavior analytic intervention that aligns with an adult client’s preferences, goals, and quality of life indicators.
